Staff Bush Tucker
Across Australia demands for bush tucker in restaurants and supermarkets is increasing. On the APY Lands Anangu women are collecting traditional foods and selling them to the wider Australian population. The women use traditional methods to collect foods such as wattle seeds and bush tomatoes. Unfortunately, many of the traditional foods may take hours to collect. This means that collecting of these bush products is uneconomical. Further development of the bush tucker industry. Cattle Grazing
APYLM has a role to monitor the impact of commercial cattle enterprises. It is planned to seek funding from the National Landcare Program in the 2004-2005 financial year to develop a monitoring program for cattle. Tourism

This low impact ecotourism may be a good model for the APY Lands. Management PlanningAPYLM is developing new management plans at Kalka, Apara and Sandy Bore to develop priorities for managing their country. The plans will express Anangu aspirations for controlling feral animals, revegetation, caring for country, managing threatened species and enterprise development. |
