Anangu Education Worker

My name is Yaritji Roberts. I was born at Fregon. When I was young I lived in Indulkana and now I live at Nyapari. I was a little girl when I went to Indulkana School and then I went to Fregon and to Ernabella. I liked going to school everyday. I learned lots of maths, writing and stories, and I learned art. When I went to school at Ernabella I stayed with my big sister Angkuna. I was learning maths, singing and dancing Inma. After that I went back to Fregon. Sometimes we went on school trips. We went to Mt Buffalo in Victoria. We saw lots of snow, mountains and tall trees. Each morning we went out and kids would play in the snow.

I was married in Fregon and then moved to Nyapari for the first time with my mother Eileen and my sister Angkuna. Two years ago I started working at Murputja Education Centre. I have been teaching in Junior Primary, in Senior /Secondary and in CPC (pre-school). I teach study skills like reading and writing. And I teach Pitjantjatjara language classes.
