Indulkana is located approximately 10 km west of the Stuart Highway in South Australia. It lies about 360 south of Alice Springs as the crow flies. Adelaide is approximately 1200kms. to the South. Bus transport to major centres is accessible locally.

Indulkana is an Anangu community, often referred to as the Iwantja Community, on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Lands in the northwest of South Australia. Although Indulkana is regarded as a Pitjantjatjara community, the majority of people at Indulkana refer to themselves as Yankunytjatjara, which is a group having its origins in the eastern section of the Lands. The community consists of approximately 200-250 people with a small number of people occupying outlying homelands.

Commercial/industrial and shopping facilities: A local community store with fuel supply outlet. A small supermarket is located at Marla (54 kms away on the Stuart Highway). There is an art centre operating with local artists. It has a gallery for sale of art work from across the Lands.

A doctor visits on a fortnightly basis and dental care (emergency) is available at Ernabella.
